This summer, I spent time in the rolling hills of Umbria, a place that seems to move at its own rhythm, where life is unhurried and deeply connected to the land. It was here that I was reminded of everything we hold close at KITANI: slowing down, reconnecting with nature, and celebrating the beauty in simplicity.
The Joy of Simplicity
In Umbria, the simplest moments feel the most profound. Cooking barefoot in a rustic farmhouse kitchen, sharing wholesome meals with loved ones, and gathering around a table that overlooks the countryside. The ingredients are seasonal and organic, often sourced from local farms just a short walk away. Food becomes more than nourishment, it becomes ritual, memory, and connection.

Nature as a Teacher
Days were filled with long walks through olive groves, early swims beneath the morning sun, and evenings watching the light soften over the hills. There’s a rhythm in the landscape — quiet, grounding, and infinitely inspiring. For me, this deep connection to the natural world is at the heart of KITANI. It influences not only how we design but also how we live and create.
A Return to Stillness
More than anything, my time in Umbria was a reminder of how important it is to pause. To soften into slower moments, to let go of urgency, and to reconnect with ourselves and others. In many ways, this is what we hope KITANI embodies: clothing and objects that carry the same sense of calm, balance, and ease.
As I returned home, I carried with me not just memories of a beautiful landscape, but a renewed sense of clarity and gratitude. Sometimes, the simplest experiences — a shared meal, a walk in nature, a moment of stillness — are the most nourishing of all
